Sub-Tropical Climate

South Padre Island enjoys a warm, sub-tropical climate that makes it a destination in every season. Gulf breezes keep summers comfortable while mild winters draw snowbirds from across the country. Palm-lined streets, turquoise water, and golden sunsets define daily life on the island.

You've Arrived

The Island Welcome

The South Padre Island welcome sign is the first landmark most guests stop to photograph — palms, colorful umbrellas, and that first breath of salt air. From here, our homes are a few minutes away, and the beach is a short walk from the door. Island time starts the moment you step out of the car.

Soft Sand & Clear Water

Pristine Beaches

Miles of soft, powdery sand stretch along the Gulf of Mexico. Recent beach renourishment has widened the shoreline, giving families even more room to spread out. Public access points line Gulf Boulevard, and our properties put you just a two- to four-minute walk from the water's edge.

The Bay Side

Laguna Madre

South Padre has two shorelines. To the east, the Gulf. To the west, Laguna Madre — the “Mother Lagoon,” one of only six hypersaline coastal lagoons on Earth. Shallow, calm, and lined with seagrass, it is a nursery for fish, a wintering ground for waterfowl, and the bay where dolphins cruise at sunset.

Paddle the Flats

Calm, shallow water makes the bay a natural for kayaks and paddleboards — a quiet way to see seagrass meadows and wading birds up close.

Fish the Lagoon

Sight-cast across the grass flats for redfish and speckled trout — the same protected water that raises them.

Watch the Birds

Laguna Madre is a wintering ground for redhead ducks and piping plovers, and one of Texas's great colonial waterbird rookeries.

Marine Life

World-Class Dolphin Watching

The Laguna Madre is one of the most dolphin-dense habitats in North America. Guided cruises depart from Sea Ranch Marina daily, offering up-close encounters with Atlantic bottlenose dolphins in their natural environment. A must-do experience for every island visitor.

“Watching dolphins play in the Laguna Madre at sunset — unforgettable.”
